Human-Environment

Change Lab

Department of Geography and Environmental Sciences, University of Colorado, Denver

Welcome!

The Human-Environment Change Lab, led by Dr. Lisa C. Kelley, is based at the University of Colorado Denver in the Department of Geography and Environmental Sciences.

Our group integrates theories and methods from critical human geography, environmental geography, and geospatial science to understand human-environment changes, policies, and politics. While we have a particularly strong focus on processes of land use transformation, past and ongoing work in our group engages with diverse agrarian and forest questions. Among other things, for instance, we are exploring the intersections between climate and agrarian changes in Nicaragua and Indonesia, the connections between climate, concessions, and land control and change in Indonesia; and histories of coastal development and sea level rise policy futures in Hawaiʻi.
